Please remember that in order to reach out to potential customers, you must be able to help solve their problem. Online business plans work the same way as a brick and mortar business and by referring back to my homepage, I suggested that you should:

  • Do full market research to explore your business niche
  • Go local
  • Know your target market
  • Know the trigger words that will make your customers respond (soft sell)
  • Uncover ways on how to find your customers instead of depending on them finding you
  • Your website presence must engage people and make them trust you

Note: If you are in a rush and need a website built fast, you can hire someone (outsource) from Fiverr. com, Elance.com or oDesk.com (now upwork.com). If you want to understand how a website is built without using complex code then carry on reading..

First off, think about your business name.

What is an appropriate name for your online business?

The name of your online business is important and should be relevant to the products or service you are trying to sell. However, this is not concrete. Banding your business without using relevant names can be done if you are using catchy slogans and products that your prospects remember what your business is and what it does.

This business name marketed on the internet is known as a domain name and is written in the URL bar located at the top of this page (it starts www. eg.. www.websitepresence.co.uk)

How to set up a domain name for your online business

Go to godaddy.com (snapshot of the website shown below) and just below the go daddy logo type in a domain name that you use for your business or think or a relevant domain connecting your business to keywords you are likely to use to represent your business.

Now click search domain and you’ll be taken to this page

Choose what name you want to be known as and click add to cart to purchase your domain. You might want to use their hosting packages too. You must buy the hosting package to get your website on the internet. The domain name for itraveller.co.uk is £1 for one year, all other years will be £6.99 depending on the package you choose.

Website Privacy Protection
I would suggest buying ssl certificate for privacy and protection for your clients is a good idea. Without it, your business might have some unwanted hackers. If you have a payment system on your website, it adds a level of security too. Here’s some more information about ssl certificates.

SSL is just a secure lock on your website. Its the difference between having http:// or https:// in the URL SSL certificates should be used especially if transactions are made through your website.

Building Your Website Blog

If you’re here because you know how to program a website (but don’t know how to market it – that’s cool) You might consider using dreamweaver or for newbies who don’t know how to code, you might consider using WordPress. I only know a bit of coding and my followers may also be non coders so from now on, I’ll be writing about WordPress.
